Rating: R for Hermy swearing. LOL
Word Count: 1,051
Genre: Friendship, humour
Summary: Three friends, closer than ever! This was written before Deathly Hallows, and at the time I had my own ideas how things would end up.
The spell Recolligio Constrictium in this piece was introduced in a multi-chapter fic at my site.
Recolligio
“That…” Harry was panting too heavily to continue.
“That was…” Ron wasn’t doing much better.
“That was fucking brilliant!” Hermione managed to gasp out, causing Harry and Ron to both turn their heads and gaze at her in amazement. “Well, it was!” Hermione giggled when she became aware that they were both staring at her. She lay between them, breathing as heavily as both of her friends.
“Yeah, okay,” Harry nodded. He totally agreed with her, but wasn’t accustomed to hearing Hermione express herself so… colourfully. “Did you ever think it would feel like that?”
“Well, I figured it’d feel good to have it done,” Ron said after a deep breath. “I just never thought I would enjoy it so much while it was happening.”
“The book never said anything about what it would feel like when we were all together that way,” Hermione said, sounding surprised. It was understandable, Harry thought, as she had always believed she could find anything in a book. “It talked all about power and proper technique, but it never said anything about how amazing it would feel to be joined like that.”
“I can’t believe I didn’t want to do this with both of you,” Harry spoke idly into the night air.
“Not like you could have done it alone, mate,” Ron chortled. “Not really the sort of thing you could have pulled off by yourself, was it?”
“Besides,” Hermione piped up, “who else but your best friends would have done it with you?”
“True, that,” Harry said, not feeling like it was any sort of defeat to admit this. “Y’know, I can still feel both of you on my skin, and even inside me.”
“Me, too,” Ron concurred. “But when we were doing it, if felt like… power all through me. Now it’s more like a glow, y’know?”
“Afterglow,” Hermione said quickly, then started giggling in a way that Harry could never remember having heard before. “The book never mentioned this, either.” Harry thought about Hermione, in disguise (which had been amusing in itself), skulking around Knockturn Alley looking for the book she knew existed, but couldn’t find anywhere else. When she had found it, and showed them the relevant chapter, both he and Ron had looked at her like she had just Transfigured herself into a mountain troll. Eventually, they had given in, and had even decided that it was inevitable.
On an impulse, Harry rolled onto his side and kissed Hermione on the cheek. “You’re brilliant, you know? Nobody else could have talked Ron and me into trying that.”
“That’s true,” Ron agreed, kissing Hermione’s other cheek. “Ever since we started all this, I always figured it would be just me and Harry. I feel pretty stupid now.”
“You should,” Hermione said, though in a friendly way. “You should always know that whatever you two get up to, it’s always better if I’m there.”
“It’s love,” Harry said before he realized he was speaking aloud. When he saw both of his friends staring at him, he explained, “Dumbledore always said it was the most powerful force there is. I think because we all love each other, it made this all work. If we didn’t, we wouldn’t feel this way now. Hell, it would probably tear us apart.”
“Yeah,” Ron nodded thoughtfully. “I’d be really embarrassed right now if I didn’t trust both of you so much.”
“You?” Hermione snorted. “How do you think I would feel?”
“We all took the same risk, Hermione,” Harry corrected. “We all had a lot to lose, even if it did turn out… well.”
“I suppose that’s true,” Hermione conceded. “It’s just that you two always have each other. I’ve been on the outside for a while, and I’d hate to be excluded completely.”
“You never will be, Hermione,” Harry assured her. “What Ron and I share isn’t the all about…well, you know. But we love you, too, and you will always be a part of us, especially now.”
“Sure, Hermione,” Ron nodded enthusiastically. “We just need some privacy sometimes. It’s just like you and Viktor.”
“I think he’ll be happier not knowing about this particular aspect of Recolligio Constrictium,” Hermione mused.
“I think you’re right,” Harry laughed. “I never really wanted to see him naked anyway.”
“Harry!” Hermione reprimanded.
“Well, he was right there, Hermione,” Harry defended himself. “Kinda hard to miss.”
“What do you expect?” Hermione countered. “I haven’t see Viktor in four months. Can I help it if he’s on my mind? And after seeing what you two get up to, how could I not have gotten… stimulated?”
The three friends laughed together for a while. The spell they used to finally defeat Voldemort by combining their powers had the unexpected side effect of allowing them all the share one another’s thoughts and feelings, just long enough for them to realize they now knew more about each other then they had ever really wanted to. Still, they also knew that they were closer than almost any other friends had ever been, or could ever be.
“I do love both of you,” Harry spoke into the star strewn sky. “And I don’t mind that we’ve all shared so much. In fact, I’m glad we did.”
“Let’s just leave this part out of the history books though, yeah?” Ron said sagely.
“Good idea,” Hermione agreed. “There’s a few things I’d like my grandchildren never to know about.”
“Done and done,” Harry laughed. “Let’s just hope nobody else ever uses Recolligio Constrictium, or our secret will be out.”
“Well, from what I read, it looks like nobody’s used it in the last thousand years.” Hermione sounded pensive. “Let’s hope it’s another thousand before they need it again.”
“You think they’ll forget us by then?” Ron asked.
“They’ll forget us in a year,” Harry said, more hopeful than resigned. It would be nice to start living a normal life, free from the threat of Voldemort, and from the spotlight that would soon shine on all three of them when his death became public knowledge. Harry hadn’t really learned anything new about Ron in the course of their magical connection, but he knew that he would be actively trying to forget the image of Hermione and Viktor in the middle of the Quidditch pitch for some time to come.

Date: 2007-11-03 01:23 am (UTC)Recolligio Constrictium was created for Chapter Three of my longest fic (13 chapters), Death on Privet Drive (http://hedwigs-bane.livejournal.com/6288.html). You may have already seen it. If not, I hope you enjoy it. It's sort of a murder mystery. It's also where I introduced the "Little Burrow" universe. There are links to all the chapters in the header of each.

Date: 2007-11-03 02:38 am (UTC)I remember hoping when I first posted it that people would have to get close to the end before they realized it wasn't really a smutty story. Especially since I could NEVER write a Harry/Ron/Hermione threesome!!! LOL
