If it wasn't gen i would have politely poked you, never fear. This fic is the perfect example of what I mean when I say a gen fic can have some pairing elements present. The primary focus is about friendship and Hermione's complete failure to grasp the concept that most house elves have no desire to be free, and helping her see that her efforts to be kind is actually making her unintentionally cruel at times to the elves in her service. The Harry/Ron element is secondary to the storytelling and as such makes this a gen fic.
